Ione Community Church is affiliated with The United Church of Christ, The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), and the National Association of Congregational Christian Churches. What that means is that we value the work that denominations do, but, as one of only two protestant churches in Ione, we want to make sure that we have a broad spectrum of understanding to share and learn from.
We value community in general, but particularly the community we find in Christ. This desire for community leads us to communion on the first Sunday of each month and on other special occasions such as Christmas Eve and Easter Sunday. All who desire community with Christ are welcome at the table at Ione Community Church.
Our Christian beliefs vary from family to family and person to person, but members of Ione Community Church believe that Jesus is the Christ and our savior. We have members who have been baptized by sprinkling as infants, others who were immersed as adults, and everything in between. All baptisms in Christ are acknowledged as sacred and legitimate.
We believe in serving Christ by serving others and are involved in several projects throughout the year to reach out to our neighbors. Our most recent is our involvement in the Backpack Program through Ione Community School which sends back packs full of food home with students who might not otherwise eat very well over the weekend. We have also given funds to the Ione Community School Lunch Program, Mission Aviation Fellowship, Helping Hands, One Great Hour of Sharing, Heifer Project, Golden Village Orphanage in Ghana, Africa and much more.
